ARTIST STATEMENT
In my art-making practice, I manipulate the screen printing process to contemplate themes of materiality, representation, and human behaviors. While creating the included works, I introduced ephemeral elements such as movement, shadow, and dimension into my exposure or printing process as a way to seek unique unpredictable results in a highly methodical medium. Due to screen printing’s connection to consumerism and technical specificity, purposely subverting the process feels like a form of rebellion and ultimate personal expression. My hand as an artist is highly present in the final images, highlighting individuality and human character in a process typically used for mass production.
