ARTIST STATEMENT
Within my current body of work, I’m exploring what it means to interact with and hold onto memory. My practice consists of printmaking, photography, and mixed media work. Which I use to highlight the mundane parts of life, question what’s unfinished, and pay tribute to the fragility of nature. My focus revolves around exploring materials, collective memory, and personal history, resulting in artworks that draw from shared experiences, are visually engaging, and allude to the bittersweet feeling of youth. Currently, I am figuring out ways to make memories more tangible by experimenting with new techniques, such as integrating live materials into my photography and imagery to tell a living story. Much of my inspiration for these pieces stems from my experience reconnecting with girlhood and forming a visual language around that. Through this, I can communicate with my past self in the most genuine way possible. A process that’s been cathartic and personal for me and has brought me closer to my work. As well as closer to the intangible beast that is memory.
