ARTIST STATEMENT
These photographs represent the magic that takes place behind the glass when a window display is curated. I see the mannequins as performers in a theatrical performance and all that surrounds them as a set design filled with costumes, accessories, and props. I also create a narrative for each of the photographs based on the location of where the image was taken during my travels:
“Beauty and the Beast” tells the story of a beautiful socialite who finds love and companionship with an unlikely suitor during a visit to New York City. I believe that photography is one of the greatest storytelling mediums and creating these tales brings me so much joy and inspiration as well as recognition for women. Like the mannequins, many women have felt they had no voice- silenced and unable to speak their truths and reveal their feelings and aspirations. I feel by bringing these fictional stories to light we celebrate the female view.
