ARTIST STATEMENT
In this submission is a painting that was finished for the first time this year after struggling with life changes and artists block. When the call asked for 2 more uploads I went to my archives of finished work and noticed similarities between now and then. These overlapping color themes and artistic devices helped me resonate with the quote “The things you love will never leave you.” While I stepped away from my identifying hobby to live my life, upon returning I was reminded that I’d always be welcomed back. Staring at the artist I claimed to be two year ago thru the mirror of the artist I am now was refreshing. It felt as if I was passing a dear friend who has always known me. I hadn’t strayed away but pioneered forward, which I intend to let be my momentum in this life. I enjoy the unity of these pieces as they represent, to me, that the love is never lost. There’s value in my progression of skill and loyalty to what my artist’s heart leans towards. Time away will never change that.
