ARTIST STATEMENT
I have spent the last few years honing my skills in 3D sculpture and assemblage, and now I am integrating these techniques into 2D photographic collages, as shown here. I use my own photographs, objects, and found imagery to craft these pieces, and I want to emphasize that I do not use AI in my work. I refer to these creations as “huellas,” or footprints, to signify my personal journey from a blank canvas to a completed piece. As I work, I move forward with purpose, capturing the essence of each moment, which is constantly evolving. I am influenced by my surroundings, current events, and my emotions. I do not concern myself with the audience, marketing, or criticism; my focus is on responding to an inner calling to gather elements and create something. While I do assess my work critically, I do not allow my inner critic to hinder my creative process.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
I am a mother, grandmother, artist, and closet writer. On average, I work six hours daily making my artwork, giving me plenty of time for the rest of my life. Making art brings me a great feeling of satisfaction and joy.
