My work is about the figure and how it relates to its environment. I like the relationship of the figures to their background which can be protective or disguised. My compositions deal with carving a shape which defines its color. I see relationships form in the painting – and a dialogue of intuition and thought begins.

Good painting is a chemical reaction between you and the canvas. Paintings have to speak to you and it’s different for every person.

I draw with the brush which creates new color combinations on the canvas and enlivens my figures in their environment. The Bistro/cafe scene are a theme in many of my painting as I reminiscence about days of Parisian life and my travels through Europe.
