ARTIST STATEMENT
I want to exhibit “Path to Eye” to honor the memory of my friend, Helene Smith Romer, who, from her unique perspective, saw, and understood, all that is absurd in our world.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
I am a Chicago artist, living in the city and maintaining a studio walking distance from home in nearby Evanston. Having taught art to people of all ages, my 12 years as a Chicago Public School art teacher has been most memorable. I have been a professional artist for my entire adult life, have exhibited work in numerable group and solo exhibits, have worked free-lance as an illustrator and have been the recipient of several artist grants, at the city and state level. I received a salary as an artist-in-residence for 1 1/2 years as part of the federally funded C.E.T.A. program during the Carter administration. As an artist-in-residence at the Ragdale Foundation, I was their first (and possibly only) third-trimester resident artist. I am principally a painter.
