ARTIST STATEMENT
Anxiety – Social
Inspired by social anxiety and the feelings of self-consciousness that accompany social interaction. The prism of fear of making a mistake or that you aren’t being your best self at every moment. The acrylic paint colors mixed with colored foil, and varying shades and shapes translates those feelings.
Anxiety – Expectations
Inspired by the anxiety of expectations. The emotional waves associated with unfulfilled or unexplored moments in life. The acrylic blue and purple paint cascade down the board , representing the ebbs and flows of what we expect of ourselves and others. Bright colored foil scattered throughout shows the many different options that present themselves and how they mix with those feelings of expectation.
Anxiety – Career
Inspired by the anxiety of career uncertainty, when you love, yet question, continuing working in a creative industry. The foil representing the bright moments of accomplishment are in the foreground. While in the background deeper shades represent the depth of creative turmoil that can produce those moments. The uncertainty of the creative journey and the desire to be not just seen, but understood.
