The painting, “Special Occasions” is a store front in my neighborhood that supplied dresses for little girls that were made by Hispanic women and reminded me of my own cultural background. When we traveled to Spain, I was struck by the storefront portrayed in “Looking Back” that also displayed clothing of little girls and boys that express the cultural stereotypes for both sexes.
