ARTIST STATEMENT
My monotype artworks on paper investigate the perception of body image and the imprint on selfhood. I used my body as the matrix for printmaking on paper. Matrix the material from which something is printed is also Latin for womb. In this process, I placed my body onto a surface covered with powdered graphite and pressed my pelvis into the paper substrate. During this method, I push myself freely without limitations or boundaries. This technique produces enlarged representations of my female form. While I use my body as a matrix device, my implied use signifies a vessel or a carrier of my inquiry to empower feminist corporeal landscapes.
