My painting process relies on chance followed by choosing or “curating” what chance has initially laid down for me. Although these paintings are not about abstract expressionism, they emphasize the gesture and the mark making through another process of outlining what has occurred on the canvas randomly during the initial process of throwing, scraping, and dripping the paint. The title of this series, “Chroma Topography,” is an attempt to emphasize the nature of the process as an abstract mapping of paint.
