Two Graces (2016)
oil and acrylic on canvas – 36 x 36 inches

I explore the relationship between memory and painterly mark.  Inspired by an archive of personal photos and videos, my paintings reflect the fluid nature of perception.  Hovering between observational rendering and gestural brushwork, they investigate the complicated and often contradictory relationship between memory, the imagined, and the real.  Working in oil and acrylic the canvas surfaces are poured, wiped, scraped and layered.  The painterly marks slow the process of looking, to signify the passage of time.
