ARTIST STATEMENT
I work in a wide range of media, focusing my practice conceptually on what I want to say. Digital media and new technologies support different ways to create and comment within the structure of art, both historical and current, and to engage viewership in this practice. We have the world at our fingertips as an ever-evolving commentary on our lives and passions, both real and imagined, rife with all of the idiosyncrasies that tag along with that. We allow these connections into our innermost being, engaging in cell phone text conversations while using the bathroom or after being woken from sleep. They shape who we are and how we perceive everything around us in simultaneously larger and smaller ways than ever before, as we can access such a vast array of knowledge while honing in strictly on those so-called truths that we wish to associate with.
Is the morsel of information that you are chewing on currently true or false, and will you be able to find it again tomorrow? These questions fuel my art practice, especially while appearing in the digital realm and considering the implications of my presence there. These works consider avatar, identity and the evolution of history while exploring some of my innermost thoughts and sensibilities, joys and fears.
