ARTIST STATEMENT
This work explores how blasphemy is (mis)used by those who desire to control women.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Jennifer Roche is a collage artist, poet, and writer who lives in the Midwest.
Her second chapbook, “The Synonym Tables,” was published in 2021 from The Poetry Question and includes several of pieces that were Pushcart Prize-nominated. “20,” her chapbook of erasure poems from Jules Verne’s 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea was published in 2020 by Alternating Current Press.
During the pandemic, Roche deepened her collage practice. In 2022, she was accepted into Kolaj Magazine’s Poetry & Collage Residency. Her artwork appears in PoetryXCollage, Volume1.
Her poems and writing have appeared in Storm Cellar; Tule Review; Footnote: A Literary Journal of History (#2); Oyez Review; Rain, Party & Disaster Society; and Ghost Ocean. She was named a “Writer to Watch in 2019 & Beyond” by the Chicago Guild Literary Complex and a 2016 Charter Oak Award Semifinalist for Best Historical writing.
