One of the first places we learn how to define ourselves and our worlds is in childhood stories. My paintings use this same visual language, but rather than having the characters simply function as passive examples, they actually look out directly to confront the viewer, serving as a reminder that we are also constantly acting out stories that serve as examples for ourselves and for each other.
