Being stuck inside has impacted me and my art more than I ever could have imagined. Considering myself an introvert, I wasn’t too upset about not being able to leave the house, I was actually a bit relieved. But this quickly changed once I realized I couldn’t access my studio. Oil painting in my living room has been a challenge as well as an adventure. It forced me to be more introspective and figure out what motivates me apart from the outside world. Through expressive self portraits and still lives based off of my apartment with make-shift models, I have been trying to explore the depths of my creative practice as it exists solely on its own, such as how we are in quarantine.
