ARTIST STATEMENT
“Meeting” sprang forth during the 2016 presidential election cycle. My art practice had been overcome by domestic duties but this forced its way through. On June 24, 2022 I framed and shared “Meeting” on social media in response to the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade.
My practice is an investigation of ancient craft techniques filtered through the lens of contemporary art. My hands move as my predecessors’ did for thousands of years, connecting me to them and bringing their techniques through the present and into the future. My mind explores color and shape. The resulting work is formalistic and often spiritual.
