Till Death Do Us Part (1993)
gouache and mixed media – 24 x 36 inches
This work was one of many I painted about caring for my mother during her long illness with Parkinson’s Disease. It was made during my first year directing WMG with Beate. That year was pivotal in my life. I struggled between resentment and tenderness towards my mom, tried to make time for my art and poured tons of energy into Woman Made’s beginnings. I really don’t know how I managed everything, but it was a gutsy, adventurous time of my life.
