I have a long personal and family history of political activism through the arts. My father was a member of the Black Panthers and was involved in the art and breakfast programs. He would often tell me that the most revolutionary thing that Huey Newton did was “feeding the kids that the country was intentionally starving.”
I find myself most excited about art that is portable, subversive, dual purpose, minimalistic, and inexpensively created, owned, and dispersed.
How long can I go on without making a choice?
This is part of an on-going series.
