colored pencil on drafting film with sewing, mounted on paper
14 x 11 in. | $300
I create works on paper that address the subtle and ephemeral nature of psychological states. Using various materials such as colored pencil, drafting film, and thread, I strive to reconnect in myself what has been fragmented. Much of my work is constructed with ephemeral materials, components that become a visual whole.
Working often within the context of memory and impermanence, I gather images, patterns, and textures, which I draw onto the drafting film and then collage and sew. Layering in this way, I build complexity in the patterning as movement starts to emerge through the materials. I name my pieces after goddesses because once completed, my work becomes a form of summoning the female energy and life force. I am calling upon those forces of protection through the practice of making artwork.
