Disperse the People
oil and acrylic on canvas

My work explores the complex relationships between culture, femininity, sexuality, and memory through painting and drawing that demonstrate my overall identity as an Albanian-American woman. My main mediums are acrylic & oil paint as well as oil & chalk pastels, all of which help me achieve the chaotic and vibrant images that communicate these ideas so aggressively. My abstract imagery depicts portraits and subconscious mark-making that grapple the complex ideas of cultural distance and diaspora, and how those elements tie in with my identity as a hyper-sexualized woman living in the 21st century USA.
