The basis for the imagery contained within my most recent figurative paintings lies in my personal experience and memory. My work stems from the fears of aging and associated feelings of insecurity. I examine my responses to my post-menopausal changes in aspect of my immediate fragment of reality. I look for meaning of the current period of my life now.

Art allows me to escape the confining negative societal stereotypes of aging and to look for more personal and positive solutions through painting. The paintings confirm my interest in self-examination. I believe that self-examination is an important step toward self-acceptance. – Age: 55
