ARTIST STATEMENT
Revolution is a catalyst for power a can body have. Even without a face the force of a body can propel us towards peace. This piece is a call to action and for all queer bodies to join forces in demanding our rights be saved. Guided by an innate connection to the earth, Grace Chialdikas’s creative process is a harmonious dance with nature’s offerings. A deep-seated curiosity fuels their exploration of the natural realm, inspiring innovative technical approaches that transforms materials into new and captivating forms. Through her art, Grace aspires to serve as a catalyst for change. Their visual language becomes a vehicle for activism, particularly in the realm of environmental justice. Her work seeks to spark vital conversations about humanity’s intricate relationship with the planet, shedding light on the impact of capitalism has on the unfolding climate crisis and protection of queer bodies.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Grace Chialdikas is an experimental multidisciplinary artist working and living in Chicago, IL. Her creative voice resonates through an array of mediums, including sculpture, textiles, performance, analogue photography, and moving image. She works as an art teacher and has traveled to many places working on films, as a projectionist and a forever learner and lover. Grace’s artistic journey is a testament to the power of creativity as a force for transformation and dialogue. With every piece she crafts, she invites viewers to join her in reimagining our connection to the earth, nurturing awareness and igniting change through the evocative language of art.
