ARTIST STATEMENT
Beneath this phenomenal world is full of contradictions, disputes and madness.
Due to the tendency towards possibility, I frequently switch between different social roles. In the meantime, under the influence of the confrontation between the individual and the outside world, I constantly examine the connection with myself and the world. I believe that the search for the source is not the purpose, and should not be separated from life, but rather a means of returning to the true life.
I don’t know what the future holds, but our current civilization should teach us to get rid of arrogance, respect life, and live in harmony.
My work “Binding” – one pair for a lifetime is about the complexity of relationship between people in our lives.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Gao Lingyun （Chinese：高凌云，b.1992) is a contemporary artist born in China. She pay attention to the status quo of human existence in contemporary society, observe the relationship between individuals, communities and the world, and respond to different states of existence with direct perception and individualized expression of inner spirit.
Creativity attempts to break away from inertia and explore reality. Usually using everyday objects as a medium, endowing them with new narrative significance, and reconstructing the imagination of the world and people’s relationships.
