ARTIST STATEMENT
I am a maker of artists’ books and a collector of natural, found objects, in particular feathers. In my works, I use feathers to create a personal space that is emotionally recognizable. The discarded feathers vary in their physical condition depending on how long they have been exposed to the elements. Their warmth and softness feel safe; their dirt and grime become profane; they are both strong and delicate. In my book works, the feathers represent all of these things. They provide a quiet, safe haven for private laments, and then become an expression of vulgarity.
