ARTIST STATEMENT
Erica finds herself questioning black existence by connecting to her past and imagining it in a future tense. This journey from ancestry to Black futures has recently led her to uncover sexual trauma. Often using sexual energy to channel creativity, she has always felt like there is some generational sexual restrain. As her art grows she finds herself reclaiming sexual freedom through exploring the life of sex work.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Since 2014, Erica Jones has been utilizing her graphic design background and photography skill to articulate her experiences as a wanderlust woman of color through art. A graduate of the Southern Illinois University of Edwardsville. Erica is always transitioning pulling from her traveling exploits in foreign lands and combining it via mixed media with her fascination with Afro-Futurism and how it ties in with her ancestry.
