ARTIST STATEMENT
I create paintings to talk about my experiences as a woman. I love and adore women (including trans-women, trans-men, gender queer, intersexed, etc.) I love being a woman, and I aim to explore the many nuances which cumulate as a woman-identifying contemporary artist. I paint myself as the subject in order to discuss the circumstances in my life that have influenced my identity, so that others may relate their own experiences to mine. My paintings take inspiration from memory, art history, a religious upbringing, and contemporary life. They are a means to pose challenging questions and situations to start perspective altering conversations with others.
