ARTIST STATEMENT
“My art is largely inspired by my travels, thoughts, relationships, harmonic domestic settings, and the lifestyle of the modern black woman. With my work, I document the symbols of my own time using my favorite mediums and means of documentation to create such as sketching and acrylic painting on paper or canvas.
My palette is tender, I have a deep connection with pastel colors because they have the ability to convey the feeling I want to express through my paintings to the viewer, feelings such as joy, serenity, calm, warmth, and stability.
I have a spontaneous relationship with art, emotional and visual sincerity are crucial; as Picasso said, “”I put in my pictures everything I like”” and that is exactly what I do. It brings me such freedom and a sense of power being able to paint what I most love.
My creative work is important to me because makes me feel empowered I love the feeling of creating paintings that can bring joy, beauty, reflection, and inspiration in such an unstable world.
My art is the representation of my desire to live a more stable, self-care-oriented life I like to think of my art as a catalyst to a lighter and brighter future.”
