Oppression II represents the escape of the soul from a cave filled with sharp, life-destroying rocks, to the broader, life-sustaining natural world. Being in isolation due to Covid-19 brought up feelings of living trapped at home in a prior, difficult marriage. In order to process the outflow of emotions, I created the Oppression Series, artwork which depicts the experience and journey of healing.
