My work in clay embodies large free-form coiled sculptures of vessels. The outer texture reveals the clay body and the process of constructing the pot. The openings are small; the viewer’s eye is thus directed to the clay’s exterior surface, while the mind is invited to contemplate the space within
Clay is a medium of earth, a symbol of motherhood. We ourselves are of the earth, nurtured within a womb, a closed vessel. These forms manifest my interest in the ancient feminine view of the dark, mysterious, mystical view of life, its celebrations and creativity..
