ARTIST STATEMENT
After graduate school and while seeking direction for my painting practice, I sought inspiration in the people and places I saw every day living in New York. I carried a small video camera with the record light disabled so I could make random and voyeuristic recordings, then made small paintings based on the videos. What began as a temporary project eventually grew into a years-long documentation of an artistic life. This work is part of a collaboration with four other artists that was exhibited in New York and Haarlem in the Netherlands.
