ARTIST STATEMENT
“Breaking Dinner Plans” is made from pieces of broken pottery I found in my backyard. It can be seen as a way to break the social pattern that says getting together should only be done when surrounded by food. On a more personal level, breaking these plates opens the opportunity to make choices about what to eat from these plates.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
I live on a hundred year old piece of property an hour north of New York City. It is a treasure trove of recycled art pieces made from broken glass, pottery, and car parts. For the last 5 years I have been combining the needlework I learned from my grandmother with my art treasures to create one of a kind pieces that give what others cast aside a new life. I have shown my artwork in the tri-state area, both virtually and in person.
