The body of my work relates to containers and containment. It’s about looking into, looking out from and looking through. Memories are a type of container for me: a vessel for holding human emotion and experience. Windows can draw us into or can block us out of the ultimate container – the past. Dilapidated structures become metaphorical. Human existence dwells and passes through, using and holding onto objects which are then left behind for the next generation to discover. These abandoned structures and their relics become receptacles, plugging us into the energy of our past and casting the light of our future. Through this rediscovery, my art is formed. Sometimes it’s playful and other times it’s reflective, but it is always defined by the found object.
