At one of my recent art openings, the gallery director described me as being “possessed” by my work. I would agree. I am fascinated by works made entirely of the same objects. Unconventional materials capture my attention and compel me to transform them into an article of clothing. The finished piece presents a powerful image with meticulous details that draws in the audience. As people examine my work closely, they are asked to challenge their presumptions about the usages of common items and how it relates to issues of social context and sexual identity.
