Artists Statements on Reciprocity

Nature is the ultimate example of reciprocity. The give and take and the delicate balance that supports all life on this planet is in a constant state of movement and change. Humans like to think they understand it but still feel compelled to rule over it. Understanding nature thoroughly is allowing self to be one with it in all its strength and vulnerability.

Brenda Steller is an artist based in Ypsilanti Michigan. She creates works inspired by her garden and local flora and fauna. Through illustrative and representational works in batik and oil painting, she can express the beauty collected from the natural world. Myth and symbolism influence her visual narrative as a means to subtly shift the viewer and artist to deeper imagination.
