photo of temporary outdoor tree installation
8 x 10 in.
This installation was created as part of a temporary outdoor sculpture show that is happening in my town every year.
The free-standing apple tree with a large, vulva-shaped hole invited me to perceive it as female. The silhouetted hand prints can be read as the desire to touch what we love, but can also signify violation. A handprint is a way of leaving an artist signature, connecting through the ages back to prehistoric times.
