ARTIST STATEMENT
I am a Latin-American artist, immigrant from Buenos Aires, Argentina currently based in Chicago, IL. I am a symbolist painter. I create art inspired by emotional, spiritual, and social issues, of universal and personal themes embedded in symbols that bring forward ancient knowledge and mysteries of our human experience. The use of strong, bold, vibrant colors speaks to my Latin American roots and I used to denote feelings and emotions. I paint objects, real or imaginary, investing in them symbolic meaning using color and light to guide the viewer’s mind to make associations of their own and discover the message enclosed in the image.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
I am a professional painter, curator, writer, and psychotherapist based in Chicago, IL. Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. I hold a MFA and MAAT from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago (1988). My interest in the practical applications of psychoanalysis and art for the purpose of healing and empowerment inspired me to obtain a Ph.D from the Institute for Clinical Social Work (2009) focusing on the use of art-making in the clinical treatment of adults.
