ARTIST STATEMENT
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Barbara Forgue is Chicago native living on a farm in Ludington, MI. Contradiction and juxtaposition are often reflected in her works. There is always something going on, often out of sight. Closer scrutiny reveals symbology and esoteric references. Expect the unexpected as she paints from both inner and outer experiences: a dreamscape one day, a barn the next. Alternating between flying and grounding is where she finds her balance. She prefers the immediacy and drying capacities of acrylic mediums.
Barbara’s works are gaining regional notice. She currently has works on Exhibit in the 93rd Contemporary Art Exhibit at the Muskegon Museum of Art and The Ludington Area Center for the Arts (LACA). Her works can be found at The Painted Frog Studio in Pentwater, MI.
Her credits include curating “Weed Haven Whimsey”, March 2022 at LACA, as well as the upcoming “Celebrating the Sacred Feminine, Honoring Women’s Herstory Month”, March 2023 at LACA; her solo show, “Spaces, Places, Memories and Dreams” August 2019 LACA.
