My Pages
paper, wood
12 x 19 x 13 in.
The materials I use are handmade paper, beeswax, fabric, thread, wood and to a lesser extent glass, metal and what-have-you. My primary material for aesthetic and intellectual reasons, is paper. I use it because it is a material whose physical properties have a great deal of organic and inherent beauty often overshadowed by its many quotidian uses. My explorations with paper have led me to think about books as bodies, about text as experience, about books as societies, about bodies as identities, about knitting as sacred writing, and about time and the river, as my grandmother would say.
