embroidery thread, linoleum print, on muslin
12 x 12 in.
The imagery in my work comes from the crippling sensitivity with which I experience life. These pieces reference childhood memories, victimization, loss of personal power, and imagined retaliation.
I choose embroidery and quilt-making as a medium because of its historical tie to domesticity and the daily events of women’s lives. The physical pulling of threads, piercing of fabric, and long hours of meditative stitching comfort and help articulate these memories.
