Andreea Davidescu

As a Romanian artist born and raised in the orthodox religion, I have developed a high interest in the study of the Eastern orthodox icons from their genesis to the XIXth century. Although I have painted several icons on canvas and stained glass, most of my icons are painted on wood that I collect from various sources. For example, “La Croix” is painted on a sample cabinet door/drawer, using the inside parts for the 2 paintings, while the margins have become the surrounding frame. Each icon I paint has a special meaning and a story behind.
