For most of my life, I have been involved in some form of musical training or performance groups. My musical background manifests itself in the resonating notes of color, lyrical lines of wire, and various rhythmic repetitions found in my work. I use repetition of color and shape, syncopated spacing of objects, “loud” or “soft” colors, and variances in scale to compose visual rhythms.
I approach each piece intuitively, allowing it to “grow” organically. My motivation to continue creating stems from an insatiable curiosity about the world around me and a fascination with the objects we habitually use and discard. I work with found objects chosen for their bright colors, plasticity, shape, and texture, which I then alter and repurpose to create new forms. Ultimately, my goal is to manipulate my materials until they are no longer regarded as their original form but instead transcend their purpose. Through my artwork, I strive to reveal the inherent beauty of everyday life.
