“It’s not about what’s on the surface, but what’s below.” My art has always embraced this statement of the deceptive quality of first impressions or “surface value.” In order to move past the surface of anything we encounter in life, one must question the way we look at the ordinary things around us. My work questions how we perceive and use everyday household objects in our daily lives. My creations don’t provide any one answer or meaning, but ask the viewer to come up with their own interpretation.
