ARTIST STATEMENT
While working across a variety of mediums, my constant goal is to spark curiosity. Although my work often addresses heavy topics, it is also filled with light or playful elements to capture the dichotomies we must hold through much of our lives. Additionally, I use personal pieces – such as foraged and hand-dried botanicals from my garden, neighborhood, and favorite places – to create a sense of intimacy. I strive to spark a conversation with the viewer, inviting them to imbue the work with meaning based on their own opinions, interpretations, and lived experiences.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Adrienne Nadeau has been part of the creative community in Chicago for 15 years, initially within the spoken word scene as a performer, open mic host, and event organizer. As part of Chicago’s exciting literary scene, she featured in notable venues, such as The Green Mill. During the pandemic, Nadeau began her exploration of visual art, using the time to experiment with a number of mediums, including collage, mixed media, and resin, which continue to be her favorite means of self-expression. New to the arts scene, Nadeau has begun showing her work in exhibitions, most recently at Cadavre Exquis at Wayward Arts Gallery. After performing at Woman Made Gallery as a poet, Nadeau is thrilled to be showing her art at the 2024 Small Works Members Show.
