ARTIST STATEMENT
Symbolic languages are used to communicate and explain aspects of the physical world, as well as the internal world we each inhabit. Myths, fables and fairy tales explain culturally accepted ideals about these worlds by presenting the unexplainable, unknown or other through archetypes understood on visual, verbal and pre-verb levels.
My current body of work addresses the public space women are now occupying. Recent events have thrust women’s bodies in the Center of a political butcher shop.
The works roe series concentrate on psychological, religious, cultural and social issues that impact women everyday such as: reproduction and reproductive rights, illness and Covid-19, class systems, colonization, compliance, silence and war.
