My work is driven by environment and process. It seeks to uncover the relationship that exists at the intersections of craft, art and consumerism. Historically beadwork and embroidery have been used as a means to establish hierarchies and assign value to objects. Through the labor and repetitive nature of beading on consumer based and personal materials, I am able to create my own value system. The repetitive action of beading on these materials allows me to acknowledge, and ruminate on the complex overlaps present in the way we look at and think about art and its materials— whether thats small scale hand work, or a large quantity in repetition.
