“Text, Texture, Textiles: My work uses the crossing of warp and weft to explore other intersections – time and space, the visible and the invisible, the material and the nonmaterial, the sacred and the profane, being and nothingness. I seek to create structures to capture the intangible, physical manifestations which embody or objectify abstractions. The structures and objects I bring together become material evidence of the insubstantial and elusive, embodying feeling, and our spoken and considered ideas.”

Aimée Picard is an award-winning textile artist and writer, and a former Chicagoan who now lives in Maine. Recognized by FiberArts (2004) and Threads Magazine (Fiber Celebration 2002), Picard won a Juror’s Award in the 2003 Art and Social Justice exhibit in South Bend, IN, and an Award of Excellence in Non-Traditional Weaving (Fiber Focus 2001), among other honors. Her commissions include: The Northern Transvaal Council of Churches, Pietersburg, South Africa, St. Peter Church in Cleveland, Ohio, and the Vietnamese Nôm Preservation Foundation.
