After 25 years working as a graphic designer and art director for advertising agencies and then my own graphic design business, I’ve decided to shift my focus back to my fine arts training. Inspired by an old photo album with wonderful creative photographs of my grandparents and their friends passing time in southwest Kansas during the 1920s, I’ve been developing a creative process that includes illustrating portions of the photos, transferring them to wood and using mixed media to add my own interpretation of the image. In 2020 I began changing my style to a more abstract approach with brighter colors and subtle messaging. Since 2015, I’ve been slowly transitioning my full time creative focus to this new work and in 2018 was invited to display my work at the juried Plaza Art Fair in Kansas City, MO. My work has also been shown at the Vernon Filley Art Museum in Pratt, KS from October 5th, 2018 to April 13th, 2019.
