My emerging facial lines give me a new sense of connection to my grandmother, whom I knew in her middle years. We differ by temperament and social era, and she ironed for hours a day, whereas I make art. In this piece, I compare our life’s work and speculate about our similar thoughts as we work. Much of my current work is about the aging process, and about how our society treats its aging members.
