Figure with Spoonbill (2018)
oil on canvas
36 x 48 in.

What drives the concept of my current paintings is my desire to share with the viewer the stories of figures in isolation. Their inner voices and the voices of the painted spaces and images that surround them exist as narratives of emotional memories. The figures may be waiting, thinking, or dreaming. My artmaking celebrates the quiet, solitary, everyday moments that fill the greater part of any day. These figures may share their spaces with a living creature, or an organic or man-made object that speak to some memory or conflict.
